School Supervisor III of the Victoria Educational District, Zorisha Mohammed-Ali, described the Science Fair in one word. AWESOME!! She was very impressed with what a school can do to encourage students’ attendance, student learning and student participation during the same week Carnival was held, while most schools in the twin island Republic were victims of poor student turnout.
Naparima College held its 9th Annual Science Fair in the School’s auditorium on Thursday 2nd March, 2017. This year’s theme was: ‘Integration of the Sciences’. The focus of the fair was based on today’s education system moving towards an integrated approach, especially of the sciences with other subject areas. Each form level highlighted science in different areas of studies:
Form 1: Art, Music & Drama in Science
Form 2: History of Science (Inventions, Robotics)
Form 3: Geography in Science (Recycling, Energy conservation)
Form 4: Languages in science (Inventions by Spanish and French Inventors)
Form 5: IT in science (generation of computers; programme)
The fair was a tremendous success. The models and displays were of a high standard. The students showed off their skills in working together to display a sound understanding of their science knowledge in the practical forum. It was very well attended by students.
We look forward to next year’s fair.
