We are excited to share that our IT Club recently participated in the Waterloo Canadian Coding Competition- held on the 14th of February, 2023- and performed exceptionally well.
The Waterloo Canadian Computing Competition (CCC) is an annual programming competition for secondary school students worldwide. It is designed to test their programming abilities and problem-solving skills in a variety of programming languages including: C++, Java, and Python. The competition consists of two rounds: the junior division for students in grades 10 and under, and the senior division for students in grades 11 and 12.
The competition challenges participants to solve a series of algorithmic problems within a set time limit. The problems range in difficulty, from basic problems that require relatively rudimentary programming knowledge, to complex problems that require advanced problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of programming concepts.
Our IT club’s president, Joshua Jitta along with vice president, Racse Ramos and secretary, Liam Dwarika worked diligently to guide the participants, who were in Forms 3 to 5, on various coding concepts such as dynamic, procedural, and brute force programming using Python. The students were given an opportunity to test their coding abilities against other participants from all around the world.
The event was held with the assistance of our teacher, Ms. Koreen Mohammed and Irshad Mohammed of 6A. They have been invaluable to the IT Club’s ambition of becoming the premier Tech club in the nation. With their help, our students demonstrated great enthusiasm in applying the effort to compete which resulted in several students attaining a near perfect score.
After the event, which concluded at 12:00p.m., we were proud to present pastry boxes to all participants as an additional reward for their hard work and dedication.
We would like to extend our thanks to the organizers of the Waterloo Canadian Coding Competition for providing us with this opportunity to showcase our talents and compete against other bright minds from across the globe.
